Network Management Practices
Effective 2026-10-01 · Last reviewed 2026-09-21
Greenfield Communications, Inc. ("Greenfield") provides broadband Internet access service over its own fiber network. This page describes how we manage that network, the performance you can expect, and the terms on which the service is offered. We publish it to meet the Federal Communications Commission's transparency rule (47 C.F.R. § 8.1) and, for our California customers, the California Internet Consumer Protection and Net Neutrality Act of 2018 (Civil Code §§ 3100–3104). Our Broadband Facts labels link here.
1. Blocking: We do not block lawful content, applications, services, or non-harmful devices. The one exception is security. Attackers use compromised customer equipment to send spam and to host fraudulent websites, so we block the specific network services that are being abused for that purpose at the time. Which services those are changes as the threats change, so they are not listed here; the current list is available from support on request, and any customer may ask us to lift a block for their own connection at no charge by contacting support at (888) 230-0020 or abuse@egreenfield.com. We will also block traffic when required by law or a court order, and traffic that is actively harmful to the network, such as an attack in progress.
2. Throttling: We do not slow, degrade, or otherwise impair any traffic on the basis of its content, application, service, sender, or device. The speed of your plan is the only speed limit we apply.
3. Affiliated prioritization: We do not prioritize any traffic to benefit Greenfield or any affiliate. Our own voice and television services are delivered over the same connection as your Internet service and are described in section 10.
4. Paid prioritization: We do not accept payment or other consideration from anyone to prioritize their traffic, and we do not offer such an arrangement.
5. Congestion management: We manage congestion by building capacity ahead of demand. We monitor utilization across the network and add capacity before links become congested. We do not use any practice that targets particular users, applications, or content, and we do not impose data caps or monthly usage limits. In the rare event that a link is congested, all traffic on it is treated alike.
6. Application-specific behavior: Apart from the security blocking described in section 1, we do not treat any application, protocol, or class of traffic differently from any other. We do not inspect the content of your traffic and do not modify it.
7. Device attachment rules: Greenfield installs and owns the optical network terminal (ONT) that terminates the fiber at your home or business. You may connect any router or other device of your choice to the ONT, provided it does not harm the network. A router is available from us for a monthly lease fee, but you are not required to use it.
8. Security: We do not run distributed-denial-of-service mitigation, content filtering, or any other security service on customer traffic. We monitor the network for attacks against our own infrastructure and may block the source of an active attack. You are responsible for the security of your own devices; the security blocking in section 1 reduces, but does not remove, the risk of a compromised device being used from our network.
9. Service description and performance: Service is delivered over fiber to the premises using passive optical network technology (GPON and XGS-PON). Plans and speeds vary by community and are listed on each community's page. The Broadband Facts label for each plan states its typical download speed, upload speed, and latency, based on Greenfield's own measurements of customer connections during peak usage hours. All plans are suitable for real-time applications such as video calling, online gaming, and voice over IP under normal conditions. Speeds measured at your devices depend on your Wi-Fi, in-home wiring, and the devices themselves, which we do not control.
10. Impact of other services: Our voice (VoIP) and television services are carried over the same fiber connection as your Internet service and share its capacity. A voice call uses a negligible amount. Television uses some of your connection's capacity while a program is playing, an amount that is small compared with the speed of any of our plans.
11. Addresses: Each connection is assigned a public IPv4 address; we do not use carrier-grade NAT. Residential addresses are assigned dynamically and business plans may include static addresses. IPv6 is not yet offered; we will update this page when it is deployed.
12. Commercial terms: Prices for every plan and add-on are listed on the community pages of this website. Service billed to you directly by Greenfield is month to month, with no term contract and no early termination fee; where a homeowners' association or property owner has contracted with Greenfield for a community, service is provided under that agreement and billed through the association. In some Texas communities the base service is provided through the community's Public Improvement District and is shown as included on the community page; the district's monthly charge for it is billed by Greenfield on the district's behalf on a separate account. Any activation, installation, or equipment charges are stated on the Broadband Facts label for the plan. There are no data caps. How we handle personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.
13. Questions and complaints: Questions or complaints about the practices on this page may be sent to abuse@egreenfield.com or made by calling (888) 230-0020. If we do not resolve your concern, you may file a complaint with the FCC at consumercomplaints.fcc.gov.
14. California: For customers in California, the practices described on this page comply with Civil Code §§ 3100–3104. Our practices are the same in every state we serve.
15. Changes to this page: We update this page when our practices change and review it at least once a year. The effective date and the date of the last review are shown at the top.
